Don't let small annoyance ruin your trip.

Every gram in your pack has to earn its place, which usually means leaving some things behind, and "dealing" with the inconveniences of a minimalist pack. But out on the trail, small annoyances make a big difference in your enjoyment of your trip. We've all been there - your stove tips over from a gust of wind and spills out, struggling to open your bear can with wet or cold fingers when your stomach's growling, poking a hole through your shoe trying to push a tent peg into hard ground, or not having anywhere to hang your headlamp or wet socks in your tent.

This kit solves the little stuff with six pocket-sized ultralight accessories that won't hurt your base weight, and are genuinely handy to have. These are hard-to-find items that aren't sold anywhere else as a convenient, UL set. Plus, one of our new Flat Out Feasts vinyl stickers to accessorize your kit.

What's Inside:

  • Fuel Can Feet: three clip-on legs that stabilize your stove's fuel canister, so it doesn't tip on uneven ground while you're boiling water for dinner. (2.5g total)
  • Multi-Tool: a handy 3-function tool with a bear canister key (for the locking tabs that are famously stiff to open - you need easy access to your Feasts 😉), a tick remover, and a built-in whistle. (8g)
  • Magnetic Hanger: gives you a handy hanger for a headlamp, wet socks, string lights, or anything you can clip to. Works great on the inside of your tent, or stick to another magnetic surface. (8g)
  • Mini Carabiner: always handy to have - clips your Trail Kit together, works with the Magnet Hanger, fits on our Titanium Spoons, or useful to clip any small items on your pack. (3.4g)
  • Paracord Tensioner: adjusts tension on 4mm paracord without retying knots. Use for guylines, tarps, clotheslines, and more. (2.5g)
  • Tent Peg Pusher: a small cap that sits on top of the peg while you push it in, so it doesn't dig into your hand or shoe. Works with most peg styles and sizes. (2.7g)
  • Flat Out Feasts Vinyl Sticker: rep your favorite trail meals with this small art piece. (1.1g with backing - but we're not counting sticker weight are we? 😂)

Total weight: 22.3g (0.79oz)

Freeze-Dried vs Dehydrated - What's the Difference?

Freeze-drying is a premium process that removes moisture through sublimation in a vacuum chamber, so the food retains its cell structure, retains ~97% of nutrients, and rehydrates better. Our meals are 100% freeze-dried.

In contrast, dehydration removes moisture through evaporation - basically cooking the water out using heat and air flow. The food shrinks, becomes chewy, doesn't rehydrate as well, and only retains ~60% of nutrients. Learn more.

Why Low Carb?

Protein & fats digest more consistently than carbs, giving you steady, sustained energy while feeling full and energized. In contrast, carb-heavy meals cause your blood sugar and insulin levels to spike very quickly, followed by a crash, leaving you hungry and tired not long after eating. Our Feasts have you feeling full for longer, and help keep your blood sugar steady.

What's the Shelf Life?

We recommend enjoying our meals within 4 years of purchase.

Allergens & Gluten-Free Info

Are meals are gluten-friendly: they don't have any ingredients containing gluten, but our facility is not certified gluten-free. The allergens that are handled/processed in the facility are: sesame, wheat, egg, milk, mustard, and seafood. While all efforts are made to prevent cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee that allergens are not present in the building or that trace cross-contact could never occur.

What Makes Our Freeze-Dried Backcountry Meals Different?

Flat Out Feasts are made for people who want real food, serious protein, and dependable fuel after long miles. No compromise, no fluff - just a meal that actually earns its spot in your pack.

Our Story

Six years ago, I was thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, over 4,000km from Mexico to Canada. But partway through, I was hospitalized because my body was literally starving to death. The diagnosis hit hard: Type 1 diabetes.

Suddenly, every ingredient mattered. My body couldn't produce insulin, turning carbs into a dangerous blood sugar rollercoaster. But every backcountry meal on the market was packed with rice, noodles, and potatoes. Food, which once fueled my freedom, became a barrier to the adventures I cherished.

I decided that if no one else was making truly delicious, low-carb freeze-dried meals, then I would. I set out to prove that high-quality, low-carb nutrition wasn't just possible for the trail - it could be a culinary highlight.

Flat Out Feasts was born, and thousands of adventurers who once felt limited find themselves empowered and reclaiming the joy of eating well in the wild. Because adventure shouldn't be limited by what you eat - it should be powered by it.
